Curbside Collection of Yard Waste Guidelines

Leaves are falling, and residents will have multiple yard waste bags or containers at the curb for collection. Be prepared! Here is a review of the guidelines to help make sure your yard waste gets picked up on your scheduled collection day:

Yard waste including leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, branches and twigs can be set out to the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day and no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before your collection. Position yard waste and recycling containers on one side of your driveway and trash on the opposite side of the driveway.

Twigs and branches up to 4 inches in diameter must be tied with string or twine in bundles no longer than 3 feet in length - no wire or plastic ties. Bundles should not exceed 50 pounds.

Leaves and grass clippings can be put into paper Yard Waste bags available from various retailers, or in a 35 gallon (maximum size) container identified with a yard waste sticker or marked clearly with 2 large "X"s on the container. Yard waste stickers are available at Township offices. Take care to ensure that the label is facing the roadway.

Filled containers should not exceed 50 pounds. Paper yard waste bags should only be filled to the fill-line and closed at the top to prevent items blowing out or rain/snow getting in the bag.

Unacceptable items: dirt, sod, mulch, wood chips, root balls (should be placed with trash), food waste, animal waste, and logs over 4” in diameter.
Yard waste is collected on the same day as your trash and recycling.
