Vacation of the southern portion of Gold Arbor and
Southworth roads has been completed. This means that the
portions of these roads extending from Ann Arbor Road to
the new connector road are no longer public roads. The
new connector road, which was constructed by the
developer, now connects the remaining portions of Gold
Arbor and Southworth Roads. The end result is that the
public road system is now a "U" shaped roadway extending
to and from Ann Arbor Trail. The new road system will be
used primarily by residents of this neighborhood with no
access to Ann Arbor Road.
For the most part installation of underground utilities
(sewer, water and storm water) has been completed,
except for a small portion of the site. The main power
line servicing this general area of the Township ran
through the center of the site. Most of the poles have
been relocated except for the western portion of the
site. The remaining poles should be relocated soon. When
they are relocated the remainder of the underground
utilities will be installed in this location.
Brick walls are required to be placed between the
commercial project and the adjacent residential
properties to the north. Typically any required screen
walls are installed last in the construction process but
the developers have decided that they wish to proceed
now with the installation of the brick walls. As of this
date approximately 85% of the wall has been bricked. A
concrete cap will be placed on the entire wall after the
bricking is complete.
Why is there a wide gap in the wall where Southworth
Road used to be? There is a Buckeye pipe line in this
general area and the pipe line company would not allow a
wall to be placed over their pipe line. This area will
be mounded and heavily landscaped. In addition, there
will be an entry walk in this area to allow residents in
the neighborhood to walk into the complex when
completed.
Only a portion of the buildings proposed for the project
are being installed at this time. If you click on
“General Landscape Plan” below you will find a plan of
the development. The building to the far left of the
page named Retail / Office is under construction. In
plan view it is the building that looks like it has two
eyes. In addition building A-1 and A-2 to the rear of
the site are under construction. The buildings are
currently being bricked and the stone accents put in
place.
Although only a portion of the buildings approved for
the project are being constructed at this time, the
other features such as paving for parking and interior
circulation and landscaping must be installed in their
entirety. At one time the developer was looking at just
paving a portion of the site. That is no longer the
case. They have decided all of the paving for
circulation and ultimate parking will be put in place
now. Currently you will see truck loads of stone being
dumped and spread on the site in preparation for paving.
It is the intent of the developer to have the paving
completed yet this November 2007. All of the Landscaping
must be installed. Weather will determine if that will
all occur yet this fall or this fall and next spring.
This same concept will apply to the fountain to be
located in the front along Ann Arbor Road. See the
“General Landscape Plan”
The two secondary entrances to the development have been
installed. You will note that both have been designed
and constructed to limit access and exit to right turn
in and right turn out only.
Work has begun on the main entrance to the development.
A traffic light will be installed and activated at this
location. The lights have been strung at this location.
For your convenience we have included several drawings
illustrating what the project will look like. A full set
of drawings can be reviewed at the Community Development
Department located on the 2nd floor of the New Township
Hall located at 9955 Haggerty Road.
