All public sanitary sewers throughout the Township are scheduled to be cleaned and internally inspected as part of the Township’s federal SAW Grant project.
The work may require Department of Public Works (DPW) and Contractor staff to access a sanitary sewer manhole(s) located on or near your property. Before entering your property to access a sanitary sewer manhole(s), staff have been instructed to let you know they are there first.
Since the sewer cleaning and internal inspection work will be performed separately by different crews using special equipment, frequent access to a sanitary sewer manhole(s) on or near your property may be necessary. The Township is aware of the inconvenience this may impose and will attempt to reduce the number and duration of sewer manhole visits on or near your property by DPW and Contractor staff as much as possible.
Also, please be advised that cleaning of the sanitary sewers may cause minor agitation of the sewer system due to the use of hydraulically propelled and high-velocity wash equipment. Precautions will be taken to ensure that operations will not cause wash water to back-up in your private service lead connected to the Township sewer system. However, as an extra precaution, the Township requests that you consider keeping your household toilet seat covers closed when not in use during the work day. If a back-up should occur, contact the DPW at (734) 354-3270 Ext. 3. The DPW or Contractor will respond as soon as possible.
The work started in mid May 2017 and will be on-going through Summer 2018, weather dependent.
If you have any questions or concerns during the project, you may contact the above number. In case of after hour emergencies, please call Plymouth Township Dispatch at 734-354-3232. Your cooperation and patience during this period will be greatly appreciated.
