The Michigan criteria for a crash are: “DID THE CRASH INVOLVE…”
1. a motor vehicle that
2. was in transport, and
3. on the roadway, that resulted in death, injury or property damage of $1,000 or more.
The report is also used to record any crash involving a snowmobile or off-road vehicle (ORV), whether
traffic or non-traffic related. The property damage for a snowmobile or ORV is $100.00.
The Accident Investigations team extensively investigates motor vehicle crashes that involve serious injuries and fatalities.

ANALYSIS OF VEHICLES BLACK BOX/ SPEEDOMETER
PERFORM BLOOD DRAWS (INVOLVING ALCOHOL OR DRUGS)
IDENTIFYING OCCUPANTS / TAKING WITNESS STATEMENTS
COMPLETION OF STATE MANDATED CRASH REPORTS
