The Community Development Department is responsible for the current and long-range planning of the community. The department strives to provide accurate information and advance development proposals in an efficient manner. The Community Development Department is always available to assist residents, businesses, and developers regarding development review procedures and Zoning Ordinance requirements. The core functions of the Community Development Department include:
Reviewing site plans and other development-related requests for compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.
Coordinating with the Planning Commission to prepare and maintain the Master Plan for Land Use, which reflects the long-term vision and guides the physical development of the community.
Providing technical assistance to the Planning Commission and the Board of Trustees.
Responding to questions regarding the use and development of property.
The Community Development Department also supports the Downtown Development Authority by overseeing improvement projects and maintenance within the Ann Arbor Road Corridor.
The Division of Public Services houses the Department of Public Works, Community Development Department, and Solid Waste Department. All Division of Public Services departments are located at 9955 N. Haggerty Road.
Laura Haw, interim Community Development Director and Planner, is available for office hours at the Township Hall on Tuesday morning (8:00 AM – Noon), Wednesday all day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), and Thursday afternoon (12:30 PM – 4:30 PM).
